HPDs now Easily Accessible on Origin

HPD Collaborative and GIGA agree to provide greater exposure for HPDs published in the HPD Public Repository, through connected data exchange with the Origin Hub
November 8, 2017

Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, November 8, 2017 – Boston, MA

By enabling connected data exchange between the HPD (Health Product Declaration®) Public Repository and Origin, published HPDs will be made available to users of Origin and mindful MATERIALS. Through data exchange tools, manufacturers’ HPD information and documentation will be kept current through connected updates, ensuring consistency and data correctness.

GIGA’s Cloud Platform, Origin is a free international cloud-based data hub which enables material data exchange between manufacturers, auditors, A+D and industry software.

The mindful MATERIALS Library is powered by Origin. Connecting the HPD Public Repository with Origin will greatly increase visibility of published HPDs, increase data management efficiency for manufacturers and improve the accessibility and reliability of material transparency information for A&D and industry users.

HPD Collaborative (HPDC) is the non-profit, member organization responsible for the development and evolution of the HPD Open Standard, a stakeholder, consensus-based standard for reporting product content and associated building product health information. The HPD Open Standard was first published in 2012. HPDC recently released version 2.1 of the Standard which introduces features designed to streamline and simplify both reporting and use of this data. New features include a LEED Pre-check Indicator, which helps both manufacturers and project teams identify products that comply with LEED v4 Material Ingredients credit requirements. HPD documents and LEED Pre-check Indicators will both be available to Origin and mindful MATERIALS users. Search filters will also be accessible on Origin and within the mindful MATERIALS Library enabling design teams to easily identify materials that may qualify for LEED v4 Material Ingredients credits.

“HPDs are a cornerstone of material transparency. HPDs are widely requested by mindful MATERIALS Manufacturers. By making HPD information accessible on Origin and within the mindful MATERIALS Library, HPDs will become more integrated into A+D workflows and participating manufacturers will gain greater exposure for their support of the HPD Collaborative.”

Rebecca Best, GIGA | VP Marketing

“We continue to see strong growth in the development and publishing of HPDs by manufacturers, with over 3,200 HPDs now publicly available in the HPD Public Repository. Connecting the Repository with Origin will make published HPDs easily accessible to design professionals who are already using the mindful MATERIALS Library, and ensure that the HPDs provided are the most current available.”

Wendy Vittori, HPDC | Executive Director

GIGA continues to partner with prominent industry groups like the Health Product Declaration® Collaborative, mindful MATERIALS and the Healthy Building Network (Google Portico) to facilitate data exchange and enable material transparency information to guide material sourcing decision and healthier built results.
